Joe Battaglia

Joe Battaglia graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in Corporate Communication and a minor in Deafness Rehabilitation. While at NIU he played on their NCAA Division One Baseball Team and was a 4 Year Varsity Letterwinner. Joe began his career in law enforcement in 2014 with the Bloomingdale Police Department. Joe held the positions of Patrol Officer, FTO, Officer-In-Charge, and Detective. Additionally, Joe was a SWAT operator with both the DuPage County Special Operations Unit and MERIT SWAT teams where he was part of numerous high risk critical incidents within DuPage County.

After 7 years with the Bloomingdale Police Department, Joe took a full-time position outside of law enforcement where he utilized his knowledge of tactical equipment and training while working for a Government Contracting Agency that supported both the United States Department of Defense and other federal agencies. During this time, he also worked part-time with the Wayne Police Department as a patrol officer.

In early 2024, Joe returned to law enforcement full-time with the Itasca Police Department, where he currently serves as the Team Lead for Itasca’s Problem Oriented Policing Unit. Utilizing his 10 years of law enforcement experience and tactical background, Joe serves as lead instructor for his department’s CQB, Rapid Deployment, and Rescue Task Force (RTF) training.

Joe is passionate about developing new officers, and educating officer safety, tactics, and investigative techniques.
