Travis McDonald
Travis McDonald started his career in law enforcement with the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office in 2004 after he returned from a deployment in Iraq with the US Army. He attended the Illinois State Police Academy where he served as the class Vice President. During his time at the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, Travis had assignments in Patrol and Investigations. His roles included Field Training Officer and Supervisor, SWAT Operator, Hostage Negotiations Team Leader, Investigator, and Patrol Sergeant. He was a gang officer, Arson Investigator, juvenile officer, evidence technician, and Lead Homicide Investigator. Travis graduated from Northwestern’s School of Police Staff and Command in 2014. After leaving McHenry County he transitioned to the Illinois Secretary of State Police where he is currently an invstigator.
Travis has a military background, which includes two combat tours, several schools and culminated with him leaving Service as an Infantry Platoon Sergeant. He is passionate about helping service members, first responders, and their families. Outside of work, he enjoys coaching, sports, and playing golf. He prioritizes family and spends as much time with his wife and children as possible.
